12. ‘Of Satyrs Kinde’
Centuries later, William Camden, the author of Britannia, said in his book that the account of The Green Children was a “pretty tale” and tied the children to being “Of Satyrs kinde” originating from the Antipodes.
Satyrs have long been recognized as the horse-man hybrid of Greek Mythology and the goat-man hybrid of Roman Mythology, but the word also would have described an undomesticated man; making the green children seem like they were ‘wild children’.
