22. Gavrilo Princip (1894-1918)
Princip was a member of the Serbian Black Hand Society which was a secret organization that transposed to be part of a nationalist movement favoring a union between Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Princip was one of three men sent by the head of the Black hand and chief of the ID in the Serbian army, Dragutin Dimitrijevic, to assassinate the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne; Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
After killing the Archduke, the three men were told to commit suicide with the phials of cyanide they were given, Given that Princip’s health was poor from an early age: his eventual death by tuberculosis wasn’t sudden.
