31. Her Older Sisters Refused To Marry
When the two of the oldest Romanov sisters were old enough to marry, their parents began to consult the Tsarina’s mother, Queen Victoria about possible matches. Even though the parents tried finding suitable matches from royal households, Olga, the oldest sister, refused to marry anyone who wasn’t from Russia.
Instead of forcing her to marry a man of their choice, the Tsar and his wife decided to respect Olga’s wishes, which is quite progressive on their part, considering the times in which they lived.
