2. Cleaning The Debris Was A Team Effort That Took Almost 9 Months
Ground Zero cleanup and recovery efforts took 8 months and 19 days but it was actually estimated to last an entire year. The timeline sped up thanks to the thousands of volunteers from across the country who wanted to help.
Unfortunately, after cleanup finished, many volunteers left with health issues caused by the fumes and dangerous materials on site. Some afflictions include respiratory and digestive problems which will follow them for the rest of their lives.
