7. Real Hobbits
Hobbits were only a part of fantasy films and books authored by J.R.R. Tolkien. But all that changed in 2003 when archaeologists discovered remains of a real-life hobbit in the island of Flores, Indonesia. It is said that these species of humans known as the Homo floresiensis inhabited the island of Flores about 50,000 years ago.
The discovered corpse was petite and stood at less than 3.5ft tall. Following this, the remains of another 9 similar individuals were recovered. The mysterious part is that after extensive research, it is believed that the Homo floresiensis species co-existed with modern humans for a certain period.
