11. The Dead Sea Scrolls
The name ‘Dead Sea Scrolls’ itself evokes mystery, doesn’t it? These are ancient Jewish manuscripts that were discovered in a desert on the shore of the Dead Sea in Israel. Over 80 scrolls were found, and they were made with papyrus, animal skin, and even forged copper!
While most of the scrolls are made of sheepskin, DNA testing also revealed some scrolls crafted with Cowhide. Now, this is quite a surprise since cow rearing required grasslands, and there were no grasslands anywhere near where the scrolls were discovered. This means that they were brought to their location from far away lands.
