8. A Pizza Place Being No. 1 Buyer of Kale

Look around, and you’ll find the superfood kale in practically everything ‘healthy’ – sandwiches, wraps, salads – you name it. But as recently as before 2012, do you know who was the biggest buyer of Kale in the US? Hint: It’s NOT a healthy food company. 

Ok, ok, we’ll tell you: It’s Pizza Hut! They used the kale as a garnish around their salads, and not even in their own pizza. Imagine a fast-food pizza joint being the biggest buyer of a healthy superfood. Irony alert!
