13. Surviving a Catastrophe took an Ironic Turn
This is one of the unfortunate and sad ironic moments in history. Born in 1858, Bobby Leach was catapulted to global fame after being only the second person ever to survive being dropped from the Niagra Falls inside a barrel. That; quite a courageous and adventurous feat!
Unfortunately, fate took a sad turn in 1926 when he was on a promotional rally in New Zealand. Mr. Leach slipped on an orange peel, which caused a leg injury that seemed minor at the time. However, it got infected with gangrene and ultimately led to his demise.
