Ukraine was to see another revolution in Euromaidan, an event that started in the Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kiev. The civil unrest began on the night of 21st November, 2013, against the government’s decision to shelve the signing of Ukraine-European UnionAssociation Agreement, and instead of leaning towards Russia to form closer ties.

The protests later also called for the resignation of the 4th President, Viktor Yanukovych due to rising allegations of corruption and abuse of power.

Kiev saw violent clashes between protestors and police which later escalated into armed conflicts and several deaths. Even after signing an agreement, Yanukovych and his allies had to flee Ukraine, and a new government was formed.

The pressure of these protests has not evaporated, continuing to stop Russian influence within Ukraine.
