4. The Chinese Torture Chair

Also known as the Iron chair, the Chinese torture chair is another misnamed torture device with origins in Europe during the Middle Ages.

The brass chair was normally found in dungeons and heavily covered in spikes with a hole in the seating part open for fire and coals. It was normally used to torture a victim into giving a confession or the accused would be roasted to death in the hot seat.
