22. Impalement

Impalement is a method of torture and execution where a victim is penetrated by an object such as a pole, spear, or stake, sometimes the subject would be impaled through the torso.

Those sentenced to impaling were usually guilty of crimes associated with treason and the punishment was considered incredibly harsh as the accused would be impaled in public.

With regards to survival after the impaling; the most a person could stay alive was 1 to 3 days, but normally a victim would last a few minutes.
