17. Burning At The Stake
This form of execution has been employed by various societies over the ages, with the accused being guilty of heresy, treason, and especially witchcraft. The process involves the accused being tied to a stake and a large fire is started beneath them.
The initial phases of burning are said to be the most agonizing as the flames are yet to reach the nerves, after which the skin does not hurt. Most burned at stake die due to suffocation, but the body is hardly ever cremated.
