10. Mao Zedong
Born in 1893, Mao was a Chinese communist revolutionary who founded today’s People’s Republic of China. He was the chairman of the Communist Party of China from 1949 to 1976.
Somehow, not many know that the greatest mass murder in history was by Mao Zedong in his Great Leap Forward program.
He told his people it would strengthen agriculture but it actually led to a merciless famine. Entire villages died of hunger, with roughly 40 million people dead, including the opposition he murdered.
