3. They Wore Stunning Jewelry
Mayan people loved wearing blings! They wore massive earrings, nose rings that looked more like plates, lip rings as well as necklaces. Elaborate headgears were mostly worn by the nobles and the royal family, as a show of stature.
The poorer commonfolk wore jewelry made from painted clay, bones, and wooden sticks since they couldn’t afford more expensive metals and gemstones. The rich, on the other hand, wore jewels made with gold, copper, silver, turtle shells and precious stones like jade.
