25. The World’s Largest Graveyard
Looking at just how massive the catacombs are, and the fact that the remains of over 6 million people have been buried here, it is easy to see why they are the world’s largest graveyard! No other cemetery can even come close.
Think about it – regular, above the ground cemeteries, require a certain size of plot to be allotted to each person buried there. Considering the lack of availability of large enough areas, it is impossible for a regular cemetery to hold anywhere close to the number of remains that the catacombs manage to do without a hassle!
