#1 A Lifelike Mannequin Exhibited In a Storefront Window
Making her first appearance on March 25, 1930, in Chihuahua, Mexico, a lifelike mannequin went on display in a not so remarkable bridal storefront window. The elaborate wedding dress adorning the mannequin was only the second thing that caught the attention of the window shoppers and passersby.
Her surprisingly expressive face, her glassy-eyed gaze, natural flowing hair, and rosy cheeks are few of the things that unnerved people. But what made people so uneasy were the hands. The skin looked too real, and so did the varicose veins on her legs.
