#30 Aristotle’s Own School – The Lyceum
Aristotle’s own school – The Lyceum, was discovered on January 15th, 1997 beneath a bed of dirt car parking area in Athens. It was a school of great importance as it was the official school of the highly illustrious Greek philosopher, Aristotle who even taught Alexander the Great.
It all happened accidentally where the site got unearthed by the workers who were constructing a new museum of modern art there. The museum was backed by the Goulandris family. Design duties were headed by I.M. Pei. The team of workers revealed that the entire area was very well-preserved.
