A 2000 years old mechanism that helped the ancient Greeks to understand their universe was called “Antikythera mechanism”. The oldest computer was recovered in 1901 from a ship that sank in the 1st century in the Mediterranean Sea. It was found submerged at the coast of the Greek Island named Antikythera.

It is said to be the oldest Analog Computer in the world. In ancient times it was used in the prediction of astronomical positions and eclipses. The device was found in one lump, which later separated into 4 fragments. All of these fragments are placed in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.
