#19 Discovery Of A Gold Nugget Weighing 11.5 lb (5.5kg)
In 2013, an amateur gold digger in Ballarat town of Victoria, Australia casually found something he had never imagined. He saw an unusual object beneath the sand which he first thought is a car scrap.
But when he started unearthing a bit, he saw gold! He kept digging and eventually got to lay his hands on a gold nugget weighing 5.5 kgs. It was the biggest gold nugget that was ever found in that area.
The lucky discoverer handed his find to a gold shop owner Cordell Kent to sell it to the highest bidder. The nugget fetched more than $300,000.
