#21 Ancient Roman Villa Spotted on Google Earth
Luca Mori, an Italian computer programmer is to be credited for this find. In 2005, Mori visited Google Maps to see the local area around him in Sorbolo, Parma. He stumbled upon an oval image that he initially misunderstood for a technical glitch.
A revisit to the website made him curious about the image and he contacted local archaeologists and National Archaeological Museum to investigate.
Initially, it appeared to be of Bronze Age but with closer inspection, they found ceramic and stone pieces that confirmed it to be a Roman villa built sometime just before the birth of Christ.
