Jorge was humble enough to go back and pay his own bill at the hotel he was staying. This event occurred right after his ordinance as the Pope, and that is why it was very shocking.
These things hinted towards the resilient and self-sufficient nature of the Pope.
Pope Francis has always believed in handling one’s self needs and requirements and has tried to inculcate the same feeling in the minds of his followers.
The management was adamant against accepting the payment but the pope made sure that his payment is accepted.
