#5 Fathers Could Sell Their Kids Into Slavery
In ancient Rome, it was legal for a father to sell his kid into slavery. There would be a formal agreement between the father and the buyer, which declared the kid the buyer’s property.
However, it was illegal to sell the kid more than thrice, and after the completion of the slavery period, the kid had to be returned to his parents. Defaulting fathers were declared as unfit, and the child would be ultimately liberated from his parents.
