#26 You Couldn’t Keep Long Beards In London
In the 16th century London, keeping a long beard was against the law. The council made it unlawful for people to grow long beards and wear breeches. Though unclear as to why the law was passed, many sources state that it was done to prevent hooligans from polluting the city of London during Henry VIII of England.
Nevertheless, the law was later abolished, giving some relief to the pogonophiles.
