#9 Starved To Death: Kurt Gödel (1978)
Kurt Gödel was an Austrian-American logician, analytic philosopher and mathematician. His influence and contributions as a logician is likened to that of Aristotle.
Having suffered periods of mental illness and instability, Gödel cultivated a fear of being poisoned and would only eat food prepared by his wife Adele. While she was hospitalized in 1977, he starved to death, weighing a stark 29 kilograms.
