7. Amelia Dyer
This one is truly spine-chilling! Born in 1836 in Victorian England, Amelia Dyer was a trained nurse who turned to ‘baby farming’ to support herself as a widower. Baby farming was a popular practice in England at the time where one took custody of a baby in exchange for money, promising to care for them.
However, but she did anything but care for these babies! It initially started with gross neglect, but she quickly began killing the adopted babies by mostly strangulating them and disposing of their bodies. By the time she was arrested, she was suspected of killing nearly 400 babies!! She was convicted and hanged in 1896.
