30. Irma Grese
Irma Grese, also nicknamed ‘the hyena of Auschwitz’, was the youngest person (22 years) to die judicially under British law in the 20th century. She was an SS guard who was the warden of the women’s section of Bergen-Belsen – a Nazi concentration camp.
Following her father’s footsteps, she joined the Nazi party’s training camps for girls. She was quickly promoted to being a guard at the Auschwitz camp and rose further to be the second-ranking female wardens. She was involved in choosing prisoners who would be taken to the gas chambers.
